Deluxe Craftsman II 18hp Cover It was 103 heat index so I decided to make me up a little sun shade for one of my lawn tractors. This poor Craftsman looks bad but it's a good tractor. I just can't wear it out. So I ordered a used deck from Texas and decided to use her at least one more season. But it was too hot so.....
I made me a sun shade
One piece of half inch copper tubing. Trust me you want something that will bend if it gets hung and not spring back and slap you upside your redneck head! Don't ask me how I know this. I just do. So copper is good. Most of the cheap umbrellas will fit right in the pipe after you cut the handle off. Just mount the pipe any old way you can here is how I mounted mine. (these dates are all wrong this was taken in July 2007)
and
On the bottom is a bent bolt that the pipe rests on. The next piece is a leg off of an old telescope and a u bolt and the top of course is a shelf bracket. It really didn't hurt my tractor to put a few extra holes in it. I mean...look at it for goodness sakes!
Folds right up when you don't need it open so the wind won't blow it around.
Then you can just remove it for storage. It isn't pretty but then again, neither is sunstroke.
